Work Packages are the backbone and building blocks of any EU-funded projects. The work package structure is the means through which the concept presented in the project proposal is realized. In simpler terms, project objectives are outlined and explained and then the project is explained how to achieve the objectives set forth with a tangible work plan, which includes work packages, deliverables, and milestones.

Work Packages

Failure tests in photobioreactors

The overall goal of WP1 is to generate time-series data from perturbation experiments (pest invasions) in microalgal photobioreactors (PBRs) for subsequent identification of early warning signals, and quantification of threshold values and warning times.

Failure Tests in Anaerobic Reactors

The overall goal of WP2 is to generate time-series data from perturbation experiments in continuous-flow anaerobic reactors (ARs) for subsequent identification of early warning signals, and quantification of threshold values and warning times.

Modelling the Failure of Microalgae Production

The overall goal of WP3 is to analyse the mechanisms underlying the productivity decreases in microalgal PBRs, identify early warning signals and evaluate, from the whole set of identified signals, those that meet the specified criteria of scalability, reliability, and affordability.

Modelling the Failure of Anaerobic Digestion

The overall goal of WP4 is to analyse the mechanisms underlying the biogas production decreases in anaerobic reactors (ARs) fed with microalgal substrates and identify early warning signals using an innovative method based on the analysis of causal interaction networks.

Sustainability Assessment

The overall goal of WP5 is to evaluate and compare the potential environmental, economic and social impacts of energy production from microalgal biogas with and without the early-warning technologies developed in PRODIGIO, and to identify the most sensitive aspects to be considered for future commercial application.

Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation

The goal of WP6 is to give visibility to the results of the project towards research organisations and other stakeholders through communication, dissemination, and exploitation actions.

Project Management

The goal of WP7 is to coordinate, to monitor, and to structure the project development, ensuring dynamic and efficient governance of the project.

Ethics Requirements

This work package sets out the ‘ethics requirements’ that the project must comply with.
